The Lake Williams Beach Association is governed by a board of directors per the charter (Menu Option under "Resources"), shall act as its agent and administer its affairs.  The board of directors consists of nine members; president, vice president, secretary, tax clerk (aka tax collector) and treasurer each with 1-year terms, and four directors, each with 2-year terms, two elected each year.  Elections occur by ballot at the annual meeting which occurs the first Sunday in June.  While some members of the Board of Directors may serve a specific role within the Board, as indicated below, all members participate in Board actions equally.

President:  The president of said association shall be the chief executive officer thereof and shall preside at all meetings of the voters of said association and of said board of directors.

 

Vice-President: In the absence of the president, the vice-president shall fulfill all the duties of the president.

Secretary: The secretary shall record and keep in their records the minutes of each meeting of the association and of each meeting of the board of directors. They shall keep a record of all votes, orders and acts of said board and of said association. They shall keep at all times a record of all voters of the territory of said association, their mailing address and contact information.  They are responsible for handling all responsibilities regarding meeting notices, (posting and mailing), proxies, correspondence and the website. 

 

Tax Clerk: The tax clerk shall collect such tax data and maintain a record of all transfers of land or other real property within the territory of said association, informing secretary and treasurer as needed in their roles. They shall prepare and send to the treasurer, not later than one month prior to the tax due date, a rate bill apportioning the association tax for the year among the owners of land and other real property in said association. They shall ensure tax bills are mailed and act as an assistant treasurer.

Treasurer: The treasurer shall collect taxes and assessments. They shall have custody of all funds, shall receive and pay out its moneys and shall keep records accordingly. The treasurer may sign checks, endorse notes, checks and other receivables and shall deposit same in association bank account.  At the close of each fiscal year they shall make a full report of financial operations, including income and expense, for presentation, at the annual meeting.  The treasurer is also responsible for leading the finance committee in the effort to prepare and present the annual budget for approval of the association.

Director: Directors don't necessarily have a specific role within the board compared to the officers noted above but serve two-year terms and thus are critical bridges of institutional knowledge year to year.

 

Beach and Properties Committee:  The Beach and Properties Committee handles all property maintenance including securing quotes from vendors and working with the finance committee on budgeting related to property maintenance and improvement.  They will also manage the associated vendors coordinating and overseeing their work.  They will ensure the properties are safe and usable for membership enjoyment.

Finance Committee: The finance committee shall prepare a budget and submit the same to the association for adoption at the annual meeting.

Social Committee: The social committee is responsible for coordinating the advertising, food and entertainment for all lwba social events most notably, the annual picnic.  The will work with the finance committee on associated budgeting.

​

Auditor:  A volunteer auditor is responsible for examining and verifying the accuracy and reliability of association financial records for the fiscal year.  They will present their findings to the board.

There may also be opportunities to support any particular initiative like the annual picnic or improvement projects!
